SEATTLE — Over the weekend, what appeared to be a harmless request for charity near Lumen Field quickly unraveled into a costly lesson.
A Seattle Reddit user, leaving a bar over the weekend, said they were approached by several people asking for donations for a local high school basketball team. They were selling candy, the poster wrote on Reddit, and the request seemed straightforward. They agreed to donate $5.
