César winner Nadia Tereszkiewicz (“The Crime Is Mine,” “Forever Young”) is set to star in “Souveraines,” the feature debut of acclaimed filmmaker Rémi Allier.
Allier won a César for his 2017 short “Little Hands,” later shortlisted for the Oscars. His debut follows a fiercely bonded mother and daughter involved in eco-terrorism within a cell of radical, conspiracy-driven activists. After sabotaging a wind turbine, the mother is arrested and loses custody, placing the girl with her aunt, who exposes her to a different worldview. Torn between the two women, the girl remains deeply influenced by her mother’s beliefs, convinced that a vast elite conspiracy threatens society.
