A Blizzard Warning has been issued for large portions of northwest Minnesota and northeast North Dakota, as dangerous winter weather conditions threaten travel, infrastructure, and public safety across the region.
The warning, released Friday evening by the National Weather Service (NWS) office in Grand Forks, remains in effect until 6 a.m. CST Saturday, with a Winter Storm Watch following from late Saturday night through Sunday evening.
According to forecasters, blizzard conditions are expected despite relatively low snowfall totals, as strong winds combine with existing snow cover to create near-zero visibility.
