SEATTLE — Four people traveling in the backcountry were swept up in an avalanche near Longs Pass southwest of Leavenworth, the Northwest Avalanche Center reported Friday.
According to officials, the group consisted of four tourers who were carried by the slide. Two men were killed.
The Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office, along with Search and Rescue teams, aided in the rescue of two other individuals.
Authorities said additional details will be released as they become available and expressed sympathy for the families, friends, and community affected by the tragedy.
