Seattle police chief confirms ICE activity on Jan. 7

In a prepared statement, police Chief Shon Barnes said the police department is “here to keep people safe, regardless of anyone’s immigration status.”

SEATTLE — Seattle Police Chief Shon Barnes confirmed there was ICE activity near Evergreen Washelli Cemetery on Jan. 7.

The police department received a call from a community member to report three men were approached and arrested by ICE agents, according to a statement from Barnes. Officers responded to the area of 11111 Aurora Avenue Norther around 10:20 a.m. and verified people were there “conducting federal law enforcement duties.”
