WASHINGTON D.C., DC — A Bellingham man accused of killing a National Guard soldier and wounding another in a Washington, D.C., Metro station shooting last month made his first appearance in federal court Monday.

Rahmanullah Lakanwal, 29, an Afghan national, is facing five charges including first-degree premeditated murder while armed and assault to kill while armed.
