A rapidly intensifying winter storm brought near-zero visibility, heavy snow, and damaging wind gusts to large portions of Michigan on Monday, December 29, with the harshest conditions concentrated in the Upper Peninsula and along the Lake Michigan shoreline.
Forecasters warned that the mix of heavy snowfall and strong winds would continue to create whiteout conditions and dangerous travel, while utilities reported a widening footprint of outages as trees and power lines came down.
