TACOMA, Wash. — Washington State Patrol Trooper Tara-Marysa Guting, who was killed while responding to a crash in Tacoma, is being remembered by colleagues and friends as a selfless public servant whose commitment to others began long before her law enforcement career.

Guting, 29, was struck while standing outside her patrol vehicle on southbound state Route 509 near Port of Tacoma Road while responding to a collision, WSP Chief John Batiste said.
