SUMAS, Wash. — Residents across western Washington impacted by recent flooding can access free debris disposal and other recovery assistance as cleanup efforts continue from Whatcom County south to Pierce County.
Several counties have waived fees at transfer stations or issued disposal vouchers to help residents get rid of flood-damaged household items, including furniture, drywall, carpeting and appliances. Local and state agencies are also offering emergency financial assistance, health guidance and recovery support as waters recede.
At the state level, Washington has activated the Disaster Cash Assistance Program, which provides short-term financial help to eligible households affected by flooding. The Washington Emergency Management Division and National Guard
