Oakland Airport Allows Non-Ticketed Visitors Past Security in Rare Post-9/11 Policy Shift

Oakland International Airport (OAK) has launched a new guest pass program that allows non-ticketed visitors to pass through security and access post-screening areas of the terminal, a move aimed at improving the passenger experience and reviving pre-security access that largely disappeared after 9/11.

Under the new OAK Guest Pass program, eligible visitors can enter the terminal’s secure areas to accompany departing passengers to the gate or greet arriving travelers without holding a boarding pass.

Airport officials say the initiative is designed to enhance customer service while maintaining existing Transportation Security Administration (TSA) screening standards.
