Thailand–Cambodia Conflict Expands to Areas 80KM from the Border, U.S. Embassy Warns

The armed confrontation between Thailand and Cambodia entered a new, more expansive phase this week as hostilities extended deeper into inland provinces, prompting renewed alarms from foreign missions and humanitarian observers. According to a security alert issued by the U.S. Embassy in Cambodia on December 12, Thai airstrikes were reported “within 80 kilometers in provinces adjacent to the shared border,” a significant expansion beyond previous zones of engagement.
