Debris flow devastates town of Stehekin

Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison tells KING 5 the debris flows occurred on burn scars left over from a 2024 wildfire.

CHELAN COUNTY, Wash. — A Washington town previously devastated by wildfires is facing another natural disaster.

Several roads in Stehekin, a small town on the north end of Lake Chelan, have been blown out by flooding and debris flows, Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison told KING 5 on Thursday night. 

Those debris slides occurred on burn scars left over from the 2024 Pioneer Fire, which burned more than 37,000 acres.
