Heavy rains continue to impact water levels across the region.
SEATTLE — Heavy rains have continued into Thursday across western Washington, causing flooding in numerous rivers around the region.
An atmospheric river has parked over western Washington and northern Oregon, bringing an estimated six inches of rainfall in the lowlands through the end of this week, according to the National Weather Service. A majority of area rivers have reached Moderate or Major flood stage, and some rivers are expected to break flow records this week.
The NWS predicts record-level flooding, particularly along the Skagit and Snohomish rivers this week. Both rivers may overtop levees.
