Mudslide closes SR 18 near I-90 as heavy rains continue in western Washington

No estimated time for reopening the roadway was given.

SNOQUALMIE, Wash. — A mudslide has prompted a full closure of state Route 18 at Interstate 90 and Issaquah/Hobart Road early Thursday morning as torrential rains impact the region.

Washington State Patrol (WSP) Trooper Rick Johnson shared the update on social media at 6:12 a.m. Thursday. The mudslide comes less than 24 hours after a debris flow onto I-90 eastbound trapped three cars and closed the major highway indefinitely.

No further information on the closure was immediately available.
