SOUTH PRAIRIE, Wash. — Some residents of South Prairie in Pierce County have been given a Level 3 “Go Now” evacuation notice as the South Prairie Creek rises to potential flood levels.
South Prairie Creek was at a moderate flood stage on Thursday morning. All homes between State Route 162 and South Prairie Road East, west to Emery Avenue North are being ordered to evacuate.
Pierce County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) officials are going door-to-door to notify residents in the area, the department said. Torrential rains this week have put numerous rivers around western Washington into various flood stages.
