Italian Traveler On Digital Nomad Visa Arrested In Thailand Over Drug Trafficking

On Tuesday, immigration police in Bangkok arrested a 26-year-old Italian national who had been living in the Thai capital under a long-stay “digital nomad” visa while sought by Italian law enforcement on drug-trafficking charges.

According to authorities, the man — identified only as “Simone” — entered Thailand in October 2025 using the five-year Destination Thailand Visa (DTV), a residency permit marketed to remote workers and long-stay travelers.
