BELLINGHAM, Wash. — A Bellingham woman, who said she moved to the city to avoid car culture, is suing after being seriously injured by a hit-and-run driver in a crosswalk she claims was too dark.
Christine Jewett was walking home from work when she was hit by a pickup truck at the intersection of Lafayette and Eldridge, just a block from her home. The impact severely broke her leg, which is now held together by two metal plates and dozens of screws. Doctors say she likely will never fully recover.
