Seattle water rescue causes delays on I-90 bridge during morning commute

The two right lanes of I-90 were blocked as crews tried to locate the person in the water.

SEATTLE — A rescue operation for someone who ended up in Lake Washington near the Interstate 90 floating bridge caused delays for drivers during Monday’s morning commute in Seattle.

The Seattle Fire Department (SFD) says crews responded around 6:35 a.m. to the midspan of the eastbound side of the I-90 bridge after a person was reported to be in the water.

A rescue swimmer went in to save the person in the water just after 6:40 a.m. The person was eventually moved onto a rescue watercraft
