While making his documentary “Roads of Fire,” director Nathaniel Lezra found himself celebrating the success of the film while also balancing fear for his main subject, Maria Pascal.
“We won the audience award at Brooklyn Film Festival but I really explicitly told her, ‘I’m worried about you,” said Lezra in a conversation for Variety Screening Series. “You’re vulnerable, you have asylum, but ICE doesn’t care.’ ICE doesn’t care what law is.
