Seattle extends closure of three parks due to ‘negative activity’

Neighbors say the three parks have been prone to crime, homelessness and drug activity.

SEATTLE — Three Seattle parks will remain closed until the end of December as the city grapples with how to address safety concerns while restoring access to green spaces overrun by homeless encampments and drug activity.

Seven Hills Park on Capitol Hill, Lake City Mini Park and the pavilion at Blanche Lavizzo Park in the Central District were temporarily closed in September due to what Seattle Parks and Recreation called “negative activity.” 

The city installed fencing around the perimeter of the facilities.
