TENINO, Wash. — A small-town food bank in Tenino is facing a growing demand organizers say has surpassed pandemic-era challenges.
Jody Stoltz, executive director of the Tenino Community Services Center, said they’ve seen 40% more clients over the past year. Her volunteers are struggling to serve everyone in need.
Stoltz said there’s a waiting list for home deliveries of groceries, meaning she has had to tell potential clients, they cannot be helped.
“That’s hard,” said Stoltz, fighting back tears, “I feel that this is worse than covid, because at least with covid, people were able to get funds.”
