‘The Lowdown’ Creator Sterlin Harjo on the Bittersweet Finale, What America Could Learn from Tulsa and How Ethan Hawke Can ‘Break Your Heart While Making You Laugh’

Journalist and bookstore owner Lee Raybon (Ethan Hawke), the crusading hero of “The Lowdown,” likes to call himself a “truthstorian,” a made-up title that nonetheless speaks to how Lee views unearthing the buried secrets of Tulsa, Oklahoma as a higher calling. In “The Sensitive Kind,” the Nov. 4 finale of the FX series’ eight-episode first season, Lee does dig up some serious dirt, finding proof that a white supremacist church has used a land deal as cover to bribe gubernatorial candidate Donald Washburg (Kyle Maclachlan).
