US Government Shutdown Continues Causing Delays in Major Travel Hubs

The federal government shutdown in the United States, now in its 24th day, is increasingly disrupting air travel nationwide, as critical aviation staff continue working without pay and major airports face mounting delays.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), New York’s LaGuardia (LGA) and Washington D.C.’s Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA) are among the hardest hit, with staffing shortages reported in at least 10 cities. At LaGuardia, average delays surpassed one hour, while ground stops were briefly implemented at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) due to air traffic control constraints.
