Tacoma Police Department recently started giving $50,000 bonuses to lateral hires. 9 of the 10 officers sworn in were from the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.
PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — The union representing Pierce County sheriff’s deputies said deputies are leaving to nearby law enforcement agencies, saying that the opportunity for higher pay is driving the departures. It is an issue they believe is only going to get worse as contract negotiations have been at a standstill between the union and the county.
