Ferry officials close in on plan for expanded Fauntleroy terminal

Washington state ferry officials said Tuesday they have selected a concept for the new Fauntleroy ferry terminal that will hold nearly twice as many vehicles.

SEATTLE — It’s full steam ahead for the new Fauntleroy terminal as officials from Washington State Ferries (WSF) said Tuesday they’ve selected a final plan for expanding the current infrastructure.

The effort to replace the aging terminal and improve the Triangle Route—which connects West Seattle to Vashon Island and Southworth—began in 2016. An advisory committee considered several alternatives, ultimately choosing one they say would improve “operational efficiency” while minimizing impacts to the environment.
