National parks feel pinch as ranger training classes face delays due to ICE training

The Trump administration’s immigration agent training priority is delaying national park ranger training.

SEATTLE — The Trump administration’s decision to prioritize training thousands of new immigration agents is reverberating far from the border: in America’s national parks.

Some training classes for law enforcement rangers, the armed officers who respond to crimes, medical calls, rescues and wildfires, have been postponed to make space at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers, or FLETC, the government’s law enforcement training academy in Georgia.
