Seattle’s final 7 p.m. sunset of 2025 arrives Thursday

“The Big Dark” will soon return to western Washington.

SEATTLE — It happens every year. The Big Dark. Thursday night’s final 7 p.m. sunset, until we “spring forward” on March 8, is a sure reminder that the Big Dark is right around the corner.

During the autumn months, we lose the most daylight in September and October. From September 1 to September 30, Seattle loses roughly one hour and 38 minutes of daylight and almost one hour and 39 minutes from October 1 to October 31, which is over three minutes per day.
