WENATCHEE, Wash. — Gov. Bob Ferguson signed an executive order Tuesday aimed at providing protections for workers on large, state-funded infrastructure projects.
The executive order requires “large and complex” public works projects over $35 million to provide project labors agreements for workers. These agreements are collective bargaining agreements that ensure workers receive fair pay, benefits and protections. According to a press release, this helps protect workers from various problems such as wage theft. It also said it helps keep labor costs “more predictable and accurate.”
