Gov. Bob Ferguson pushes back against Trump administration’s demand to end ‘sanctuary’ policies

He says threats of financial, criminal penalties won’t end state immigration policy and the state will not be “bullied” by the federal government.

OLYMPIA, Wash. — Washington Gov. Bob Ferguson pushed back against U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi’s demands to end the state’s sanctuary policies.

Last week, Bondi sent governors and mayors letters across the U.S. informing them their sanctuary policies and practices “thwart federal immigration enforcement to the detriment of the interests of the United States.” 

She added, “This ends now.”
