The fire started around 1:30 p.m. Monday afternoon and is now contained. Crews will be monitoring overnight.
GRAND MOUND, Wash. — Crews are battling a brush fire that broke out around 1:30 p.m. Monday afternoon near Grand Mound in Thurston County.
West Thurston Fire Chief Nathan Drake told KING 5 they have the fire under control and homes are no longer threatened. Originally, the fire was a potential threat to three homes.
According to Drake, the Department of Natural Resources sent two helicopters to assist crews on the ground with the containment.
