THURSTON COUNTY, Wash. — A Thurston County man is facing multiple charges after a confrontation with Sheriff Derek Sanders escalated into a physical struggle, all of which was captured on the sheriff’s body camera.
Ivan Mendez-Lopez is being held on probable cause for third-degree assault, DUI, resisting arrest, obstruction, failure to obey and driving with a suspended license.
Sheriff Sanders alleges the man doused him with what smelled like sweet, coffee-flavored liquor during the incident.
