Washington state opens second diverging diamond interchange on SR 18

A new type of interchange is coming to SR 18 near Snoqualmie.

SNOQUALMIE, Wash. — Washington state’s second diverging diamond interchange opened Friday morning near state Route 18 and Interstate 90 with the goal of improving traffic flow and safety.

In a diverging diamond interchange, drivers will cross to the left side of the highway to go under the I-90 bridge before moving back to the right side.
