Sound Transit is letting big dogs on the light rail

Little dogs were allowed on the light rail if they were in a crate or other container. Soon, dogs on leashes will also be welcome aboard.

SEATTLE — Dogs (and maybe even other pets) will be allowed to ride the light rail, likely by 2026. 

The Sound Transit Board voted on Thursday afternoon to allow riders’ furry friends. 

The agency will modify existing rules that allow animals in a crate or other container on Sound Transit vehicles to now include leashed dogs. There was also a conversation about allowing other leashed pets, like cats.
