TACOMA, Wash. — More funding is going towards fighting the opioid crisis in Tacoma.

Pierce County Human Services recently awarded $1.3 million to expand detox services at Metropolitan Development Council (MDC).

MDC provides wrap-around services to people in the community including help with mental health, substance abuse, housing, education, and more.

MDC operates a 32-bed detox center that is open 24/7 to help people withdrawal from drugs and alcohol, most frequently from opioids.
