No felony charges in Renton shooting after evidence review

Prosecutors said they could not disprove a self-defense claim in the July 11 shooting.

RENTON, Wash. — The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has declined to file charges in a shooting at the Renton Transit Center last week.

In a June 16 legal analysis memo, prosecuting attorneys said they couldn’t disprove a self-defense claim in the shooting.

Two 20-year-olds and an 18-year-old were initially taken into custody after the July 11 shooting. A 52-year-old man was critically injured in the shooting. He is still recovering from his injuries and is now in stable condition.
