SEATTLE — The City of Seattle is hitting pause on part of a traffic safety project that was supposed to bring more speed cushions to Lake Washington Boulevard. This is raising concerns among cyclists and neighbors who say the road is already too dangerous.

The city installed 12 speed cushions during the first phase of the project. Phase 2 was originally expected to include 12 more, but in a recent update the city called the speed cushions “polarizing” and said it’s shifting focus to pedestrian upgrades
