7-year-old faces anxiety after horrific carnival accident

One year later, the family says their daughter is still feeling the impact.

OAK HARBOR, Wash. — A family is suing a carnival ride operator after a swing ride collapsed during Oak Harbor’s Fourth of July celebration last year, injuring six people, including a 7-year-old girl and her father.

Carmen Echevarria said her husband and daughter were trapped in the wreckage after the ride, known as The Cyclone, toppled over while in use. “It felt like a nightmare,” Echevarria said. “It was horrific.”
