PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — Fireworks celebrations over the Fourth of July weekend caused more than $200,000 in property damage across Pierce County, officials said, with multiple fires and hundreds of emergency calls straining local resources.
Between July 4 and 5, the Pierce County Fire Prevention Bureau responded to four major fires tied to improper fireworks use, including incidents that destroyed a wave boat, RV, and manufactured home. One blaze also damaged a garage in Puyallup. Total reported losses are estimated at $207,000.
