Wednesday’s ceremony marked the beginning of a new chapter for the Seattle Police Department, which has faced legal trouble and allegations of misconduct.
SEATTLE — Shon Barnes was officially sworn in as Seattle’s police chief Wednesday afternoon, cementing his role after months of serving in the position and outlining his vision for rebuilding community trust.
Barnes, who has been on the job since late January, took the oath at the Northwest African American Museum before a crowd of first responders, community leaders and his fraternity brothers.
