Several fires reported in Snohomish County as Independence Day celebrations begin

Snohomish Fire and Rescue added extra crews on Friday to handle the annual spike in fireworks-related calls.

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. — Shortly after the sun set in Lake Stevens, a group of Snohomish County firefighters sat in front of their station, watching fireworks light up the sky, knowing any one of the the thunderous booms could be the one that thrust them into action.

“In my experience, it’s ramping up right now. July Fourth tends to be pretty wild in Lake Stevens,” said Snohomish Fire and Rescue Battalion Chief Ryan Lowe.
