Inmate escapes during roadside clean-up in Mason County

Deputies are searching for Domingo Pablo Mendoza, 49, who escaped from Mason County Jail during a road clean-up shift.

MASON COUNTY, Wash. — Deputies are searching for a 49-year-old man who escaped Thursday from Mason County Jail custody while working a roadside clean-up shift, officials said.

Domingo Pablo Mendoza escaped around 11:30 a.m. Thursday near the 6000 block of Tahuya-Blacksmith Road, when a group of inmates were cleaning up litter along the road.

The Mason County Sheriff’s Office said Mendoza is 5-foot-4, 200 pounds and has brown eyes with black hair. He was last seen wearing an orange “Mason County Jail” t-shirt, an orange
