“I’d do it again,” says the private boater who carried police to the suspect down the Chehalis River.
CENTRALIA, Wash. — It’s not clear why, but police said Joshua Whitney did not want to be arrested. In the end, a private fisherman helped police get their catch of the day.
According to investigators, police chased Whitney from Pierce County, where he was blamed for a hit and run crash, into the Chehalis River last Wednesday.
The middle of the pursuit took officers on a chase nearing 95 miles per hour and sent police 30 miles down I-5, from DuPont to Centralia.
