SAMMAMISH, Wash. — With the Fourth of July weekend approaching, the King County Sheriff’s Office is urging residents to take extra precautions on the water, warning that summer holidays bring a spike in drowning deaths.
“It’s both a public health and public safety issue that requires our continued vigilance,” said Tony Gomez, injury prevention manager at Public Health — Seattle & King County, during a safety announcement Tuesday from Lake Sammamish.
