In the November 2024 general election, the county rejected 2,029 ballots due to mismatched signatures. Of those, 51% were from voters between the ages of 18 and 26.
PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — Pierce County’s youngest voters can expect a postcard this week urging them to update their signatures on file with the elections department, after more than half of all rejected ballots in the last general election came from voters under 27.
“Young people today don’t have to sign things like their elders did, and so it’s more difficult for them to have a consistent signature over time,” said Pierce County Auditor Linda Farmer.
