KENNEWICK, Wash. — Gov. Bob Ferguson on Thursday warned that proposed federal budget cuts to Medicaid would devastate Washington’s health care system, triggering hospital closures, stripping health coverage from hundreds of thousands, and placing the state’s most vulnerable residents at risk.
Speaking at a press conference in the Tri-Cities, Ferguson urged Congress to reject Republican-backed proposals in the House and Senate that would slash Medicaid funding by as much as $700 billion over the next decade.
