Local and international fans fill Seattle for Club World Cup

The streets of Pioneer Square were flooded by attendees of the FIFA Club World Cup, a prelude to the 2026 World Cup, boosting local revenue and hotel occupancy.

SEATTLE — Seattle’s global soccer moment arrived in full force Sunday night, as fans from across continents packed into Lumen Field for the FIFA Club World Cup — a warm-up of sorts for next summer’s even larger event: the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The FIFA Club World Cup is similar to the more popular World Cup, but it features 32 club soccer teams instead of national teams in the tournament.
