Scottie Scheffler won the Memorial Tournament last week and made all kinds of history in the process.
A few months ago it felt somewhat fair to wonder if we were in for a year headlined by someone else other than the world number one, particularly when Rory McIlroy won the Masters.
McIlroy is an incredibly talented player – a Career Grand Slam winner obviously – so as noted this did not feel like a prisoner-of-the-moment sort of take. Scottie hadn’t won an event at that point in the season, he took longer to win for the first time in a season than he had in previous years
