Shawn Kemp pleaded guilty to a lesser assault charge Tuesday and is scheduled to be sentenced on August 22.
TACOMA, Wash. — Former Seattle SuperSonics star Shawn Kemp pleaded guilty Tuesday morning to one count of second-degree assault in connection to a 2023 shooting at the Tacoma Mall.
The plea came as the trial got underway on Tuesday prior to jury selection. The charge Kemp pleaded guilty to is lesser than the first-degree assault charge he was facing at trial.
Sentencing is scheduled for August 22, according to the Pierce County Prosecutors Office.
