EVERETT, Wash. — A trial over the 2024 death of a Washington State Patrol trooper will proceed, despite a defense motion to dismiss the case over alleged bias and unlawful court interaction with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Raul Benitez-Santana, currently held on $1 million bail, is accused of fatally striking Trooper Chris Gadd with a vehicle on the side of Interstate 5 near Marysville in March 2024.
