The “Chromebook challenge” has been linked to school fires across the U.S.
CENTRALIA, Wash. — Two Centralia Middle School students face a felony arson charge after they were accused of starting a fire in classroom.
According to investigators, the fire was intentionally set after one of the boys said they were following a trend they had seen on TikTok.
Online videos titled “Chromebook Challenge” became popular on the site recently. They typically show Chromebook laptops, commonly issued by school districts to students, tampered with so they will begin smoking, and in some cases ignite into flames. The postings have come from schools and students
